about

N’sang, meaning “Gathering of wise men around a problem”, sing of day-to-day life and the evolution of the city. Lead by Prince Ntoti, the band reconstructs traditional sounds to translate them into new sounds adding a modern intake in this recomposing process. Being inspired by the diversity of central African rhythms, the beat is at the base for N’sang. Their mix of Bunda and Bofenia sound of the Mongo people in Equateur province is linked to that of the Ewondo in Central Cameroon. When they combine these rhythms with their urban sound using the N’vutu style, a call and reponse singing, Pende sounds mixed with Ntandu sound result in Rock. Not only in styles but also in languages the group mixes a broad array such as Bunda, Mbala, Teke, Luba, Swahili, Wongo, Ntandu, French, English and Portuguese.

People leading life far below and far above the poverty line, the city produces a sound that celebrates style in its diversity ... more
